MINI CV
In 1990 I graduated from the University of Groningen. After completing my military service requirements at the 44th armoured infantry battalion in Zuidlaren, I started work as a lawyer in Leeuwarden in 1991, at the firm now named Rotshuizen Geense Advocaten.
In 1994 I moved my practice to Groningen (Rollingswier Advocaten). In the early years I focused almost exclusively on criminal law and later also the administrative law. Gradually, I started to focus increasingly on insolvency law.
Since 1999 I have carried out my practice as a self-employed person, first within a general partnership with Rollingswier Advocaten and now as a partner of Dorhout Advocaten N.V.
Since out of the various legal areas the legal area Insolvency Law suits me best, I started to specialize in that area in 1998. First, I completed the postgraduate course in Insolvency Law (RuG) in that year and in 2005 I completed the Grotius/ Insolad specialization course in Insolvency Law (KuN). In 2008, I completed the further specialization course in Financial Economics for Trustees (Erasmus).
The insolvency practice is crisis management at its best: decisions must be made. I enjoy it every time. But there is more to insolvency and I have found that a crisis such as this requires a team effort, because in a complex situation quick, accurate and targeted action is needed.
I am regularly appointed by the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal as a researcher into possible mismanagement within companies in so-called survey procedures.
