Pieter Lettinga

In 1988 I graduated from the University of Groningen. After working as a corporate lawyer for a short time, I started working as an independent lawyer in 1990. After two mergers, the last one with Rollingswier Advocaten, I became a partner at Dorhout Advocaten NV. The fact that I am a businessman has also shaped me as a lawyer. For me, the result for the client always comes first.

Meanwhile I have been engaged in advising and reorganising companies and institutions in financial difficulties for about ten years. In addition, I am often appointed by the court as a trustee in bankruptcy and I also frequently act as a consultant for shareholders or management boards to avoid bankruptcy. In this profession, often (practical) solutions that fit within the legal frameworks need to be devised under great time pressure. What I like most are the dynamics of this and the fact that the result of your efforts is often immediately visible.

Of course I cannot do my work without a very thorough knowledge of bankruptcy law and the law in general. That is why, after the postgraduate course in Insolvency Law at the RuG, I completed the Grotius specialized course in Insolvency Law in 2005.  In 2008 I subsequently completed the specialist course Financial Economics for Trustees at Erasmus University in Rotterdam.
